[Koll] Research Colloquium Cognitive Systems
This colloquium provides a platform for discussing current research in cognitive systems, neuro-inspired artificial intelligence, and experimental psychology. The focus lies on understanding human and machine perception, with topics such as visual cognition, face and object recognition, perceptual and memory representations, and computational modeling of the brain. Participants will present and critically discuss recent studies, ongoing projects, and methodological advances, fostering an interdisciplinary exchange between psychology, neuroscience, and computer science. The course is primarily intended for students with a strong interest in these research topics, and participation is particularly encouraged for those planning an internship or thesis in the Cognitive Systems group.
Learning Goals:
• Develop a critical understanding of current topics in NeuroAI and visual cognition
• Gain insights into experimental and computational approaches to studying perception
• Improve scientific presentation and discussion skills
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between cognitive and computational sciences

Kommentar:
In this course, we will discuss emerging theoretical ideas and research findings in the Neural Computation Group. The course features presentations from members of the research group, as well as from thesis and project students and external guests. The course is open to all students interested in our research and participation is highly encouraged for students interested in an internship or thesis in our group.
[Si] Seminar Human Machine Interaction
This seminar provides an introduction to human-machine interaction. Students acquire an in-depth understanding of human-computer interaction, focusing on the cognitive, perceptual, and interactive foundations of user-centered interactive systems. They learn about various interaction modalities and develop competencies in the user-centered design, empirical evaluation, and analysis of such systems. They can apply experimental methods (e.g., eye tracking, psychophysical procedures, EEG) as well as machine learning techniques—also in the context of neuroadaptive and brain-computer interface (BCI) systems.
Learning Goals:
Students learn various interaction modalities and develop skills in user-centered design, empirical evaluation, and analysis of such systems.
- Fundamentals of human-computer interaction and user-centered design
- Interaction modalities (e.g., visual, verbal, gesture-based input)
- Cognitive and visual information processing in human-computer dialogue
- Interaction design and evaluation (including usability testing and experimental studies)
- Experimental methods of user research (eye tracking, psychophysical methods, EEG)
- Application of machine learning in user analysis and interface design
- Introduction to neuroadaptive, perception-sensitive systems and brain-computer interfaces (BCI)
