Comment/Description

This course will introduce the concept of abolitionism and some of its manifestations. We will look at the history of abolition from the American Revolution to today, get to know W.E.B. Du Bois’ concept of “abolition democracy,” and talk about current abolitionist movements in the U.S. We will also discuss how the concept of abolitionism is imagined as the foundation of new sociocultural orders, and analyze its potential for political activism.
