Kommentar/Beschreibung

This seminar introduces key debates at the intersection of migration, gender, sexuality, race, class, and citizenship. It examines how migration is shaped by intersecting structures of power and how categories such as gender, race, religion, class, and sexuality are produced, contested, and transformed through migration processes, public discourse, and state governance (e.g., Anthias, 2012; Cleton, 2024; Manalansan, 2006). The course brings intersectional, transnational, postcolonial, and queer approaches into conversation, with attention to migrant agency, politics of belonging, racialisation, and institutional bordering practices (e.g., Altay, 2025; M.A., 2023; Tudor, 2018). Students will work with both foundational and contemporary texts to analyze migration not as a single-axis experience but as a dynamic field of inequality, identity, and resistance (e.g., Cleton, 2023; Crenshaw, 1991; Fresnoza-Flot, 2024).
